Don Q: Signature 2005 / Overproof 151 Rum Review

Today we review both Don Q Single Barrel 2005 Signature Release rum along side some Don Q 151 overproof rum. One is high test alcohol punch the other is a barrel aged rum with lovely flavorful notes that remind us of a bourbon.

You don’t need a bourbon to get a white oak, vanilla, aged product with the rum profile, Don Q brings it in their 2005 signature release / single barrel selection.

I have a bottle of the Don Q 151 I bought back in 1995-96, when I was 21… Still has the seal on it and I don’t think it has that little safety feature on the top. I actually bought 2 of them when we were down there for about $5.20 a bottle, I believe it was at the Serralles factory/store. Back then, you could still buy bottles of rum and take it on the plane with you and you didn’t have to buy it at the airport like you do now. Ah, good times….. 😉 Been ages since I tasted some good 151. And you’re right about the Bacardi 151. Like drinking rubbing alcohol….

IguanonPR says:

Here in PR Don Q is king by a lot, next I will say that is Palo Viejo and third is Bacardi.

Family Life Daily DannyNattie says:
