By the look on your face after the first taste says it all. I have tried 2 bottles of this and it really isn’t for me.
A Liqour store near me had a offering of “High West Rendezvous Rye ” matured in a second cask of Quady Port . This was a super rich whisky. And absolutely loved it. Check out your retailer and see if the offer it. It was darker than the HH Midwinter Nights Dram. Loved that also.

Great review, one of your best. This is really young, the port finish honestly I think saves what would be just fire. It’s still pretty interesting stuff and worth a try. The price however is really up there for what it is.

Scott Christian says:

I’m so glad I stumbled upon this review. Super helpful. I’ve been on the fence about going for a bottle of this. Last time I went with the Amador. So far I’ve had a hard time deviating from Basil Hayden’s. Any suggestions?

Adam Sleight says:

Nice review. An 85 is probably right on point for this bourbon. This issue with bourbon is the pricing. At $40 it would be a good buy, but it is easily found within the $60-70 range which would make it a terrible buy.
