Review – Willett 80th Anniversary Bourbon

I review the new Willett 80th Anniversary Bourbon. It’s a $35 Bottled-In-Bond release (4 year old bottled at 100 proof) of their own distillate, and will be in short supply since there’s only 5,200 bottles to go around.

As of 9-2017, my current bottle count stands at over 2,400 bottles. I am a Certified Specialist of Spirits and have also been certified by the Tequila Regulatory Council (CRT). I’ve been actively collecting for the last two decades and what started as a small basic home bar has transformed (with the help and understanding of my wonderful wife) into what I think is a pretty nice collection. Thank you for watching and sharing in my passion.
Cheers!

Spot on review! This stuff is going to be fantastic in a few years if this is the kind of juice they are getting out of four year old maturation. The first thing that hit me was cherry licorice. I don’t think I’ve ever had a more balanced bourbon that was this young. It allows the complexity to show itself with only the corn as the consistent backdrop.

Their 3 year old Rye is fantasic, I would really love to try some of their older Rye’s. This one sounds great, I would love to pick this up. I will try to find it for sure.

Great review Hound. I don’t think this will cost $35 when, if at all, it reaches my side of the pond. Can I put in a request? I would love to see you review some Mezcals. There are so few reviews of quality mezcal and I know you enjoy it. Del Maguey have just been bought out but they just continue to release great stuff. I’ve never had a bad Pierde Almas either. Cheers
