George T. Stagg built the most dominant American distillery of the 19th century, during a time known as the Gilded Age of Bourbon. Uncut and unfiltered, this robust bourbon whiskey ages for nearly a decade and boasts the bold character that is reminiscent of the man himself.

What kind of water dropper is that you are using?
best review yet.absolutely great.change is good,try everything.
why the “just because i married a puerto rican” comment?
If you dummies want to go all cheap, loose and blasphemous, try the Studebaker Manhattan. Good stuff when you want to go gangster!
Its a lite ABV though. Yowzah! It is a real bargain. Have three bottles of this stuff right now- one opened. Maybe we should drink it neat? I will advise how that goes. “Open Mecca”, though is a multi mixed metaphor. I really don’t mind all the personal stuff either as you guys are my Drinkin Buddies.
I love the Divorce Story. Sorry but I forgot how funny this was.
We toured Buffalo Trace distillery last weekend. Such a great experience and wonderful people.
Finally available here. Not the cheapest bourbon ever, but worth it. At least, I didn’t have to sell “the house and everything in it” to get my hands on two bottles!

where do you get the flight test board with the glass dropper? Very nice.
this is very much a luxury Brand and pretty damm expensive isn’t it? i’ve never seen this in Germany so i did some online research and holy Moses i found some bottlings between 500-1000€ and up. this seems to be a millionair’s dram rather than blue collar 🙁
just picked up a bottle of this that is barrel strength and unfiltered! I am excited to try it! Bart, I also picked up a bottle of Ardbeg 10 LOL.
Which batch # does this bottle come from? I know there’s been quite a bit of variation between batches.
The Stagg Jr is awesome, and this review is the most entertaining one I’ve seen. I’m not a scotch drinker, what review should I watch to determine what is the first bottle of scotch I buy?
Get a bottle of Henry McKenna 10 Yr., Single Barrel, Bottled in Bond. It is the best Bang for the Buck for $30. Try it. You won’t be disappointed.
Great Review……things got real:) Glad you found someone that treats you right Bart….and still got everything in the house from your past marriage. That has not been the experience of many of my friends.
I havent tried this one yet, but I’m now curious about it. I have one you should try though, Bib and Tucker Bourbon. Now that one will make you cry, its so good. Well I didn’t cry, I shed a tear of joy. Try it.
is this still 50 dollars in the USA, in Japan is runs for 120
I love how you started branching out more and not just sticking with scotch Scott. Wild turkey 101 is different it wouldn’t be my first choice for bourbon it has elements of a semi sweet and can be harsh . They have Stagg Jr here in Okla for $45 lol. Elijah Craig is the nectar of the gods. I might have to pick this up tomorrow. 🙂
This is my (Bubba) favorite review ever! Love the story! haha
Great stuff, lads. It’s rare that I buy the same bottle twice – although it happens occasionally. There are too many whiskies from around the world – and I want to try as many as I can. Tried whiskies from Sweden, Denmark, Switzerland and Italy last weekend. All enjoyable.
would like to try this
would this be to strong for beginner
I like the Elijah craig
Guys, find yourselves a bottle of George T Stagg if you really want a world class whiskey. Had one 10+ years ago and it was god like. The Stagg Jr. is good and worth the purchase.
This just had me thinking about this. Since you didn’t do the “is it worth it” on the older bottle, maybe a few part series where do it for the past bottles would be pretty cool. I’m not sure you’d want to do them all but it would be fun to see you do some. Perhaps do a theme (bourbons, scotches, others).
Thank you so much for another outstanding review and sharing of your thoughts and life. I could not agree with you anymore about branching out and trying new whiskies. The world is so full of beautiful flavors. It would be an absolute shame not to try as many as possible.
Love you talking about reviewing all kinds of spirits. I challenge you to review some ages sipping rums. There are some really good complex sipping rums now that are aged in bourbon barrels. I think you might enjoy some of them. Zafra comes to mind.
These are getting a little expensive now. $70-75. But I love this bottle.
weller line by buffalo trace if you like wheated whiskies
Wild Turkey!
On a serious note the stag is very good I have scrounged three bottles!
I always like to mix it up… If I’m having more than one dram it’s rare that I’ll have two of the same whisky.
Love it. Bart, you are an inspiration to us all. $75!!!!! not even the shitty ex boyfriend t.v…. ?? Brilliant! By the way, I wanted to buy the Stagg but it’s a bit too expensive over here… might get me a Blantons Gold instead.. thoughts?
The Stagg Jr. is only 50$?! Wow…. here it’s 130€ >_<
Man, just saw this stuff today at a shop I visited for the first time, 89.99 canadian…i bailed..LOL got a glen cairn glass though..LOL
May have to go back and grab some..
the only problem is age statement batc- gts is 15yrs or more but gtsjr is a non age and taste a little raw or young
picked up a bottle
very strong alcohol taste
once you get by that it is tasty
a little goes a long way
I drank with ice
Picked up 2 bottles, very good!
Life is too short to constrain yourself to one brand or one style of whiskey. There are so many good whiskies out there and life is too short. That being said my go to whiskey is a bourbon.
