Bulleit Bourbon Frontier… Scotch Test Dummies…Reveiw #139

Join the Scotch Test Dummies, Scott and Bart, as they review Bulleit Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey. Bulleit® Bourbon is inspired by the whiskey pioneered by Augustus Bulleit over 150 years ago. Only ingredients of the very highest quality are used. The subtlety and complexity of Bulleit® Bourbon come from its unique blend of rye, corn, and barley malt, along with special strains of yeast and pure Kentucky limestone filtered water. Due to its especially high rye content, Bulleit® Bourbon has a bold, spicy character with a finish that’s distinctively clean and smooth.

Medium amber in color, with gentle spiciness and sweet oak aromas. Mid-palate is smooth with tones of maple, oak, and nutmeg. Finish is long, dry, and satiny with a light toffee flavor.

Tastes like makers mark with a bite, to me. Ya it’s ok.

Roger Saenz says:

This bourbon makes a really good Old Fashion and I use the Rye for my Manhattans. My wife likes it with pineapple juice shaken. For 20 bucks, it’s hard to beat.

HASECO1 says:

Is not Jack Daniels considered Tennessee whiskey. So that would not fall into the Bourbon category?

NG One Seven says:

Just ordered my first bottle of this as it was on Amazon UK for £22 delivered. Seems I made a decent choice for my first bourbon…

cocktailzombie says:

Love that dawn of the dead themed R2-D2 shirt

C Dizzle says:

I make the bottles for this stuff!!!

peter white says:

Try the Bulleit 10 year, now that is good stuff.

Cheers

Nate Kowalski says:

Good stuff, I liked hearing about the pink cup in the northern harvest rye review. Funny!! This bourbon though is particular sweet for me, I have only bought it once.

Freddie Slaughter says:

Have you guys heard of the Bloomberg report on bourbon, it is eye opening. All bourbon is made by 12 distrillers and that is why they all taste similar. The bourbon you are trying is not made in Lawrence, Ky

apu de geest says:

non goofy looking Bruno, do i have to get used to you looking this way? i will if i have to, but don’t think i’ll take you more serious then before.

HASECO1 says:

I can’t wait for the Rye review. They also make a 10 year old bourbon which is not too bad. Maybe you guys can do that one too.

Jay Harrell says:

One of my favorite decent-priced bourbons. I love their rye!

Richard Nelson says:

Love Bulleit. It’s $33 by me but still worth it.

speed rakk says:

the bulleit rye is amazing.whiskey bible 2016 gives it a 96.it is distilled at the old seagrams plant (LDI}.

PatienceZero says:

Your friends think this is harsh bourbon? Not at all! Don’t know bourbon, I would say.

Roger Call says:

You guys are awesome! One of my favorite bourbons. Fire pit, cigar and Bulleit Bourbon…life is good!

lion71ism says:

I drink it with a splash of ginger ale and a lime..its actually my favorite bourbon all around. great review guys. thanks for your input!

Rian Creamer says:

Really like your reviews gents – a bit of humour goes a long way :) We don’t have much bourbon availability in the UK mainstream, and it’s pricey compared to Scotch, so seeing reviews from US really help get a good picture of what’s what!

This was the bourbon that got me into bourbon – could never enjoy JD – as much as I wanted to (I know it’s a TW . . 😉 Has a similar profile to WT101 for me, rye heavy and spicy, which I do like in a bourbon – but not as rich or punchy. Like yourselves, whenever I open a bottle of this it gets drunk alarmingly quickly – uncomplicated but a great quaff-able bourbon. Wouldn’t describe it as harsh at all.

Can never get the bagpipe tune out of my head after watching your vlogs . . . :)

Jeremy H says:

My favorite bourbon to mix in an Old Fashioned!

Harry Stockings says:

heys , don’t know what’s wrong with those friends of yours all I know three of us killed this bottle in an hour or so alongside couple of beers last winter on a park bench in the middle of city centre zagreb/croatia/europe and we thought it was great. not as good as knob creek or makers mark but still great. I myself also tried the bulleit rye and it’s even better imo. anyway thanks for the vids cheerz! oh yeah heres theshit we usually record while drinking this sort of holy waters < . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7fq8fBYTz2s

Hey Guys:

Here is a review of a New York State Craft Cider I am enjoying as I type. It is produced in the Hudson Valley  about an 100 miles north of me here in Brooklyn. I hope they expand to Apple Brandy and Apple Jack. They do have an Apple Wine TEN66 which is a French style Pommeau; which I enjoyed at a Cider Pairing event last Monday.

Enjoying a Hard Apple Cider from ORCHARD HILL Cidery in New Hampton in New York’s Hudson Valley. As apple lover, I am always ready to enjoy Apples in any form. Since the State of New York is the second largest apple producing state, I Love to support the Home team as well, vs. the State of Washington.

As many of you may know Apples were among the first fruits to be fermented and distilled in these United States going back to colonial times.

ORCHARD HILL Verde Carbonated Hard Cider  7.25 ABV

COLOR: Pale Yellow with a steady stream of small bubbles rising to the surface.

NOSE: Soft Dry Apple note.

PALETTE: Dry but with a Light Pleasant Sweetness as the the Cider sits in the glass and opens up; A Beautiful Balance of Sweet and Dry notes.

FINISH: Drying yet a Lightly Sweet Apple flavor remains.

I am really enjoying this glass. I have had the mass produced Sparkling Apple Ciders in the past and was disappointed because the drying sense always seemed to overshadow the apple flavor.

ORCHARD HILL is a Craft Distillery and the care in production shows. There is a Perfect Balance here between Apple Flavor and the drying sense with the Sparkling quality enhancing the mouthfeel.

THIS WOULD BE A GREAT ADDITION TO YOUR THANKSGIVING TABLE.

Corey Martin - Big Poppa says:

Great review guys. I love both bourbon and scotch as well.
If you can find it, search this bottle out.:
High West ” A Midwinter Night’s Dram”.
It is an unbelievable Rye finished in port cask.

fehquig says:

I like this one, guys… My bottle is nearly empty too. That vanilla and butterscotch nose, and the strong caramel taste just makes my mouth water! The fact that it doesn’t stand out too far from the crowd makes it very easy to drink without any harsh surprises or challenges. I enjoy taking a break from some of the more demanding whiskies with something like this on frequent occasions… The .price is what seals the deal.

Joshua Goodsell says:

First bottle of this was while camping. Couldn’t agree more, it has a frontier feel that’s great outside.
