An episode of The Whisk(e)y Vault hosted at Whisky Marketing School in Austin, TX.
Today we do a review/tasting of Glendronach Peated Scotch from the Glendronach Distillery. We also try the Glendronach Original and somehow Buffalo Trace makes a short appearance.
BTW, I said Glen means river. Glen means a small valley with a river in it. It’s the location of most rivers in Scotland. So “Glen” “Dronach” would mean a small valley with the Dronach river running through it.
Also. It’s Richard Patterson. Not Roger Patterson. let’s just say I was tired and my brain was hazy. Yeah. Let’s blame it on that.

Oh shit Daniel. You let the names slip 4 months ago
Another Emmy worthy performance from Rex.
I do have a request, I love the Glendronach 18 Allardice. I was wondering if you could suggest some other Whisk(e)ys on the same notes. By the way, I love this channel.
Where do you order whisky from? I thought it was illegal to mail whisky in Texas?
Hey Rex and Daniel! First of all Love the show! A group of friends and I have fallen in love with your videos and have basically binged them all. We are all new to whisky and want to explore it more, So I’ve decided to host a whisky tasting night. I’ve decided to go with 4 whiskys and some snacks so my question is. What whiskys would you recommend and what food do you think would go well with it. Thank you for your answer and make sure to open the whisky marketing school in Australia so I can do it :). keep it up and may your crazy stay this side of legal!
A glen is a secluded and narrow valley.
abhainn (pronounced something like – aveen) is a river.
As in the new distillery on the Outer Hebrides: Abhainn Dearg (Red River) aveen jerag

The lady giving the tour pronounces it at 2:30.
Guys, Glen in rather an u shaped valley – with or without a river. Am i wrong? Great whiskies here. Best
Hi Gents! 100+ episodes and getting better and better!
REALLY appreciate more details about the taste/smell, etc of the whisky’s and for reading my comment in one of the episodes.
I have watched y’all from the beginning and it seems that with each episode, your beards have gotten longer and longer and here it comes – a dare.
Daniel, what would you give Rex to shave his beard??
Rex, what would give Daniel, if he were to shave his beard??
OR, perhaps, shave a beard and raise you a Man-Bun?
Discuss.
Keep on, keep’n on!
“Chip the glasses and crack the plates, that’s what Bilbo Baggins hates!”
India has a very hot climate.. So drinking without ice here is unthinkable.. So are there any Scotch that are suitable for these kind of climate..?? Or is it same like any where else..??
what is a Somali?
I have a request in which to see the way something would react and change. Any whisk(e)y that you feel this would work best with. Done four ways being neat, chilled, w/ water and chilled w/ water. To be clear I’m not saying with ice either but with whiskey stones or bullets or what have you.
Roger Patterson? Really Daniel? You mean Richard Patterson. Level 3 whisky sommelier my ass! lol
Tip 🙂 ad a little peated GD to the GD original 12, it’s still a single malt but ads a little more (the GD peated also works nice with the GD sister Benriach 12 Sherry cask)
I was wondering if you’ve done any of the new world whiskies? Walsh, Taiwanese, Japanese, Australian etc?
Thank you guys so much for presenting my comment, y’all are awsome
Hine
Would you consider doing some Highland Park whisky’s? Like maybe that bottle of Sigurd behind you on the shelf?
Two peanuts were walking down the street. One was a salted.”
Have gone back and binge watched all the videos. At what point do you feel you get diminished returns tasting because your tongue is toast? I’ve had fights of 5 seem like too much and prefer 3 most times. Based on Rex’s shirt and all the bottles piled up on the barrel behind him it would appear you done way more than 5 at times. Are you giving the whisky it’s due?
I hope the charlatan whiskey you guys start making is a sherry cask. seems fitting
Roger Paterson? You should be ashamed of yourself.
I always chew my whiskey, that’s what our Whiskey and GM and my store told me I should do. Really does give out more flavor.
Loving the info, keep it coming. It’s the little tidbits like the Kentucky Chew that satisfy my inner nerd.
Most importantly, we don’t care about ratings here. It’s all about the whiskey, The Somm and The Mooch… preferably in that order.
so I turned 19 a few months back here in canada and I was given a bottle of Auchentoshan 12 for my birthday, what would you recommend I get next? should I try a bourbon?
Hi just wondering when can we expect the new channel to start up. And I’m wondering if you could look at a whiskey you would classify as a summertime whiskey. Keep up the good work. 🙂
Glen doesn’t mean river, it means valley, like a river valley. Rivers usually run through glens, but not all glens have rivers in them.
great video
Daniel have you ever tried adding saline (salt water) to whisky. As you may know salt is a favour enhancer and is currently popular with mixologists. What are your thoughts on using it for whisky tasting?
Glen is also the name given to every japanese boy that comes out bloody (Hawaii joke).
Guys, can you do a review on OYO? And are you able to get your hands on OYO Rye? Would love to see a comparison to one or two other whiskies that are high percentage in rye.
I thought Glen was Pete’s friend? I think he’s also Doug’s cousin. 😉
got to your channel through modern rogue and been loving watching your videos on whisk(e)ys wondering if you guys have done a review on any canadian whiskies? I recently bought one called “Crown Royal Northern Harvest Rye.” There was a huge hype about this one and finally got my hands on one. I like it quite a lot, but I would like to know what you guys think of it!
Great job with the vids though! Keep up the great work!
Time to open my own distillery: GlenJose.
