Review: Roca Patrón Tequilas (Silver, Reposado & Añejo)

I was recently certified by the Tequila Regulatory Council (Consejo Regulador Del Tequila) or CRT – Mexico’s governing body of the tequila industry. To celebrate that, I decided to review the complete Roca Patrón Tequila line (Silver, Reposado & Añejo). It’s 100% Tahona produced tequila which is now a very rare production method, but was the way all tequilas were once made. Today of the 1400+ brands of tequila, only a handful (3-6) are made using the traditional 100% Tahona method. So cheers to Patron for giving us another rare opportunity to taste a bit of Tequila history!
As of 08-06-2014, my current bottle count stands at 1,439 total bottles. I have 901 different ones in the bar and another 538 in back stock. I’ve now been actively collecting for the last two decades and what started as a small basic home bar has transformed (with the help and understanding of my wonderful wife) into what I think is a pretty nice collection. Thank you for watching and sharing in my passion.

My question is… you said you don’t care for patrons basic level tequilas. But you seem to like these. I’m Ima silver man myself and I see you haven’t reviewed the gran platinum bottle from patron. I would love if you would give a comparison.

Tequila Whisperer says:

Thanks for the review, “Hound’ster”!  I’ve been dying to taste this Patron variant.  Sometime soon, I hope.  Keep up the good work.

(Do we know each other?)

Mongul Corps says:

Lalo tejeda says:

Please let me know out of the three (silver, reposado or añejo) which one would you recommend please. And is this Roca Patron better than the original Patron? Thank you!

Joe Kleinberg says:

What would be a good Tequila for my to barrel age myself?

2 Legit 2 Quit says:

Wow. In my liquor store the anejo is less than 50 dollars.

Bret Wiley says:

You stated that one of the differences between the Rocca line and the regular Patron is the stone wheel grinding. What I am maybe misunderstanding is that the regular Patron states on the label that they use the stone wheel. So…..they use this process for all their Tequilas?
