** What’s with the necklaces?

Daniel is a whiskey sommelier. His necklace is a token of his sommelier level, and he trains whiskey sommeliers at The Whisk(e)y Marketing School in Austin Texas.

**A Whisk(e)y school?

Yup. Here are a few things we believe.

** You don’t have to be a snob to appreciate and love great whiskey.

Whisky and Whiskey (it depends on where it’s from) have been an important part of cultures around the world from time immemorial. Whiskey is a part of the very fabric of Western society, and in most places, is as common and accessible as beer.

Like Jazz and wine, snobs have predictably hijacked whiskey appreciation, spoiling our natural, common connection with it and creating a false dichotomy of “good whiskey” and “bad whiskey.”

It’s time to break through the emotional bias with facts and science. That’s what this school is about.

** The only valid definition of “good” whiskey is “whiskey you like to drink.”

Learning how to share your love of whiskey in a way that connects people to the history and the story has more to do with public speaking and storytelling than it does with facts and tests.

The best way to learn about whiskey and share that love is to drink whiskey and talk about it with friends. Study the history, find the stories, and discover the culture and the methods that have been developed over hundreds of years. That’s what you’ll do when you attend The Whisk(e)y Marketing School.

** You don’t need a marketing degree to learn how to share your love of whiskey with the world.

There’s an old saying, “In business, it’s not what you know… It’s who you know.”

Regardless the industry you’re in, most people are clumsy and ineffective when it comes to “networking” because they ignore a very important rule – Relationship First, Business Second.

Whiskey Story TIME!!! I bought a car last month, found out the frame was rusted out and unsafe, dealer cut me a check for my down payment. So last night I found a Chrysler 300 I wanted and we were able to get the payments I could manage. I’m still holding this check. Banks are closed so we went to Wal Mart. Wal Mart wouldn’t cash it. Srsly? So, we found this tiny, hole in the wall liquor store that would cash this $2500 check. As I walk up to the counter I start noticing that they have all kinds of rotgut whiskey along with some high end stuff. At the counter was a half-dozen bottles of Macallan 21, going for $499.99 each. Macallan 21, every Orphan barrel that has come out to date, and others that made me wonder, are they real? I’ve been looking for whiskey in the wrong parts of town, time to put the body armor on and go into the less savory area and see what’s available!

Can you please review that Macallan 17 fine oak. Also just add that 10 year old fine oak too. Might as well just do the whole line of Macallan fine oak range 10,15,17,18,21,25, and finally the 30. It is not like you have unlimited sums of money for all that glorious whiskey behind you. Cheers on the explosion of subscribers in the last year and I can not visit the vault soon. Lastly when I sent my gift whiskey’s to the vault you made rule of no tasting of opened bottles. I sent an email to Daniel about sending sample bottles, but he never sent back a reply on whether I can or can not. Just wanted some clarification if I should send some or not. Oddly enough I received a bottle of Lusty Claw from a buddy. I did the same thing as you. I search and searched for info on the bottle. I turned to Distiller and the juice inside garnered a whopping 2.7 user rating. The majority of the reviews said that the company put more money into the bottle than into the juice inside. Needless to say. I will keep the bottle unopened and for display only. Side Note: You guys neglected to show the bottom of the bottle, which has the engraved eagle on the bottom.

Bourbon has to be in charred new oak containers. Everything I have seen is in American white oak. I always thought the reason for that was availability, cost, and the ability to be a very good barrel. Do you know if anyone trying to make bourbon with a different type of oak to see if they can get a different flavor result and possibly expand what a bourbon could be? Would a different oak be enough for most people to even notice?
